Is Slackware have perfect basic program's set?

Some time ago i view my installed program's list, i think, that Slackware have perfect basic program's, and i think, that i can start using them, than install tonn of dep's, and compile them. Now, let's look, what program's i can replace:

  • Window Manager and Desktop Enviroment: as DE, you have XFCE or KDE Plasma, as WM - Windowmaker, fluxbox, blackbox, fvmw2, twm, and Motif, every can found a good solution for youself. :)
  • Archive Manager - Midnight Commander can open archive's.
  • File Manager - Thhunar, Dolphin, and Midnight Commander, i use Midnight Commander, a powerful dual-panel file manager.
  • PDF-Reader - XPDF, mcview, gv, but i need to use DejaVu, a long time i'm using Zathura, but now i just convert eBooks with djvups, pdf2ps, ps2pdf (comfortable thing, so easy to use).
  • XMPP-client - Pidgin is good client, that also can be used for IRC (But i use native HexChat), or mcabber as console client. If you don't need OMEMO, it's perfect choice for you. :)
  • Media Player - Mplayer, Xine, ffplay, and QtAV, but it's don't support YouTube (Now YouTube is become uselles for me, but SMPlayer is still ROCKS!), i use SMPlayer with mpv to watch YouTube, but MPlayer is also available as player engine in SMPlayer.
  • Password Storage - GPG Encrypted file.
  • Text Editor - you have a many editors, almost all of them console-based, but Mousepad and Kate is included, if you install Slackware with KDE or XFCE.
  • WebBrowser - Links, Falkon (If you have KDE), or FireFox and SeaMonkey, that included in original Slackware, but i use NetSurf-gtk + Links in graphical mode.
  • Terminal Emulator - XFCE Terminal or Konsole is included by default in DE's, URxvt and XTerm also included, i use URxvt with my config.
  • IDE - Maybe, i try Emacs, but now i code with MCEdit, KDevelop is also included with KDE.
  • Image Viewer - Geeqie, the best multifunctional image-viewer, that i ever use.
  • Audio Player - XMMS and Audacious is included by default, beautiful and minimal programs, if you have KDE, you also have Elisa, in Audacious you can read music lyric, or you can use audio-decoder's directly, like flac, ogg123, sox.
  • IRC-Client - HexChat, Pidgin, EPIC (epic5) and irssi as console client, or Emacs can work with IRC.
  • If you don't found program, that can be useful for you, you can browse Slackware Package List.

Okey, i think, that is being good try to use system-default app's. I really think, that Patrick Volkerding make the best Linux Distro, and it's philosophy short and understandable.
