Good day, my dear reader! I am Daniil, and I am the author of this wonderful website!
I am a programmer and musician - I'm studying at university on IT, and in the future I would like to work as a System Administrator.
This website started back in 2021, under the influence of DigDeeper and Luke's Cabin.
Alongside IT, I also love music, and I believe - this is the most beautiful thing in the world!
My musical instruments are: Acoustic Guitar Cort AD810 and Digital Synthesizer Casio CT-X3000. And even if I am bad in live performances, my instruments help me to compose music for fun!
Most of the time I just make some crazy sound design, so I release songs not as often as I would like...
My English is not the best in the world, so I am trying to use Ogden's "Basic English"[1] on my website.
You know, there's something about the waning moon that always makes me want to cry a bit ...
... see, the moon's a lot like a human being.
Once you've gone as far as you can go, the only thing that's left for you is to vanish away ...
Music
As you can see, I am a huge music lover! Since I was born, my parents introduced me to Gothic Rock like The Rasmus, and Alternative Rock like Linkin Park and Evanescence! Later, I discovered EDM when I got unlimited access to the Internet - I was listening to Knife Party, Skrillex, The Prodigy, Deadmau5, and other great producers of that period, so this made Electronic Rock my favorite genre in no time.
I started to learn music in January 2021, when I got my Cort AD810 acoustic guitar, but have no results until I started make music on my computer. My music style is combination of Electronic music, Rock, with Symphonoical elements, but I call this simply Electronic Rock.
If I can add only one album here, probably it's been Evanescence - Fallen
After I started to make my own music, I lose interest to music listening as a hobby, so right now Its not so usual to me to just play somu music on the background like I do in childhood.
If I find some time to just relax and listen to music, usually I play something out of these artists, which inspired me to become musician:
- Skrillex
- Nero
- Linkin Park
- The Rasmus
- Beck
- Deadmau5
- SebastiAn
- Daft Punk
- She Music
- LukHash
- Keiko Matsui
- Audioslave
I belive, you can call me "Poser", since this is the most popular artist of these genres.
Heavily inspired by workflows of Deadmau5 and SebastiAn, I could make noise for hours, use virtual Eurorack and sysnthesizers to create my musical ideas.
Usually, I save all my musical ideas in midi files, and keep a wav file nearby for resampling. Since my DAW Reaper have templates, I also save all my automation curves, effect groups, or even synth/drum stacks.
Reaper is a really powerful Instrument, so 90% of the time i use its builtin plugins - they are lightweight but have no UI. Alongside it's preinstalled plugins, I use these to create my bass synths and process audio:
- Massive - my favorite instrument, the face of EDM's golden age. I created over 100 sound presets with this friend - it's pretty lightweight, and have over 1500 presets preintalled. However, Recently i've been trying to use Vital as my primary synth, but I still like its sound, even after 20 years it's release.
- Vital - a free synthesizer, which gives more cleaner sound, but more cpu-heavy processing.
- Raum - Sound-design reverberation plugin from Native Instruments.
- Replika - Delay plugin from Native Instruments.
- Addictive Keys - My favorite virtual piano.
- Addictive Drums - Studio-quality acoustic drums!
- Cardinal - A free virtual EuroRack, with over 1000 moduled preinstalled! My favorite ones are from Audiable Instruments, since they remind me of Native Instruments Reaktor's Toy-like modules. Sometimes I also use modules from Surge XT.
Since I'm more into Complextro production, my DAW project looks more like a puzzle of Lego bricks. I have a piano midi track - I slice it on a little pieces and layer them on random tracks with diffirent virtual instruments, noise samples and effects.
Most of the time, I use Leviathan 3 by Black Octopus sample pack - I find this one the best for my purposes, and I belive that knowing one sample pack good is better, than have terabytes of simillar kick drums. At the end, I could combine a few Kick drums into a single one - just by cutting off conflicting frequencies. However, I also collect random instrumentals and acapellas so sometimes I could use these as my vocals.
Philosophy
A fool seeks to kill time; A wise person uses it!
In my life, I have made my own ideas from the works of Arthur Schopenhauer. These simple rules help me to get the most out of my life!
Arthur Schopenhauer tought about life as a pendulum between boredom and sadness. We set big goals, but we suffer trying to reach greatness
.
These ideas also appears in Buddhism, and although I am Wiccan, I like to study diffirent ideas from diffirent religions.
Every person have needs for money, and art. That's the reason why people work.
Every person should have three main activities:
- Primary work - source of money to pay for a rent, or spend for two other activities.
- Art - Somthing to be a part of human history.
- Break - physical or mental work to give you a break after two other activities. Something that doesn't require you to be the best, so you can just take a pen and paper, and paint something, thinking about process, not the final result
I belive, no one could combine these things. Programming 1 is not a way to relax 3 for me.
I cannot earn money 1 with music 2. If I want to, I need to get deep into marketing and self-promotion. But I'm not interested in this, so I decided not to do it.
If I want to relax 3, I could give myself time to draw something in my album, or read a book. Writing for my website is the same kind of relaxation 3, but with a little bit of artistic goals 2.
A long time ago, after a stressful time, I dropped my career as a programmer to learn music. However soon I understood that I cannot enjoy music if I do it for money - music is just the best gift from Mother Nature. After months upon months of telling to myself "You need to be as good as Deadmau5!", I decided to stop. Now I focus more on education and my future, instead of trying to live from my music.
I realized that I am more comfy doing music for my site readers and friends, rather than some strangers on the radio. Is is much more fun to write music together with friends and remix each other's songs. I value my family and friends more than partnership with some big stars.
I was excited, when I discovered the community of She Music (Lain Volta). He doesn't need to release music every year. Instead, he draws comics and 3D models, and talk, laugh and answer questions on music making with fans on Discord - just like a regular person, not a popular artist.
That's the reason why I would like to build a similar community around me, where I could release high-quality tracks when they get finished, not in a strict schedule. I also want to find time for this website, and stay connected with my readers.
You could get familiar with the media that changed my life for the better and inspired me to create this philosophy:
Higanbana - a monumental work by two artists, the centre of my philosophy, which describes the importance of family, love, and how to make the most of life. As you've seen, this website is all about Radiata!
Happy Birthday: Inochi Kagayaku Toki - Made by studio Magic Bus, this animation shows us the importance of being nice to each other. Every person has their own problems, but still want to live in this world. After Re-Birthday, studio Magic Bus made "My Sister, Momoko", and I like it too.
World Masterpiece Theater - anime series collection by Nippon Animation. Titles like "Anne of Green Gables" and "The Story of Pollyanna, Girl of Love" are great examples of Christian stories about finding happiness in life, or "Heidi, Girl of the Alps" from legendary producers like Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata.
Ghibli Animation - Since I mentioned Miyazaki and Takahata, it is necessary to say something about their work after Nippon Animation. The Ghibli Titles are beautiful and warm, so you can find something for yourself! My personal favorites are "Only Yesterday" and "Howl's Moving Castle", but I love everything they did. Ghibli animation is another chance to connect with my family.
Arthur Schopenhauer's "The Wisdom of Life" - A good starting point for understanding his ideas. By the way, it's a nice collection of lifehacks, written by philosopher at the end of his long life.
As you can see, the main topics behind my philosophy are: Life and Death, Disability, Love, Family. I have been living with Tourette's Syndrome since 2023, and these masterpieces help me to stay calm in my life and like everything I do.
Also, there are honorable mentions like Josee, the Tiger and the Fish, Gotou ni Naritai anime, or the works of Makoto Shinkai like The Garden of Words, Goethe's Faust. I dislike the fact that almost everything here comes from Japan, though I find German culture interesting too.
Most of the time I enjoy watching brainrot from Japan, which is used as a biological weapon to make people dumb worldwide, so if I want to, I could add some titles like Gokicha! Cockroach Girl, Aho Girl or Plus-Sized Elf here. As my dear readers, you need to be ready for this!
My philosophy is not about being productive - it's about making the most out of life - so if I want to, I will watch an anime about cute elephant girl doing cute and clumsy things 24/7.
